Compliance and Regulations for Generative AI

I took a professional skills course on LinkedIn on compliance and regulations related to the current state of generative AI.  This course was taught by Adrian Gonzalez Sanchez, an online university lecturer.  I learned about the origins of AI and how generative AI is differentiated from previous capabilities of AI.  I also learned about AI ethics and regulations, and how they differ and overlap.  I also learned about how this relates to data privacy regulations and how it is being regulated by various international bodies, such as the EU.  For example, the EU classifies AI systems into three categories of risk: limited/minimal risk, high risk, and unacceptable risk.  It is interesting to see subliminal/manipulative techniques that cause harm as being classified as unacceptable since we will see how the European courts interpret this broad language regarding those who are affected by app algorithms but are unaware.

I will have to leverage generative AI in my career as it begins to take over mundane tasks, freeing me up to tackle more high-level issues related to my field.  However, I cannot simply make it do whatever I want it to do in order to make my life easier, as there will be guidelines that I will have to follow based on national and international standards and regulations.  By understanding these guidelines and using them as a resource, whenever I direct generative AI to assist me in my tasks, I can ensure that I direct it in an ethical manner without breaching any ethical or legal redline.
