Career Objective

Crystal BallFew years ago, when I am still trying to obtain a degree for economics, my professor introduced us the rational agent model. At that time I did not challenge his view because the theory seams logical. On that year, I was also taking an entrepreneur class and started a small business with couple of classmates. This experience changed my life and I made a sudden decision to drop my economic degree and transfer to Temple. My experience was, with all the calculations that we have done, and going through the information that we believe to be useful, our business nearly failed. It turns out that the real world is never what we imaged to be and the lesson was business decision are difficult to make as accurate and useful information are rarely available. I will not go further to discuss about this experience as it is off the topic we are discussing here, for these of you who are interest in this story, please visit my Interest & extracurricular activities page and find out my experience in Beta Parties.

What I have learned from reality in a hard way, is that there is no perfect information in the real world. In the real world, business struggles to obtain useful information. Reality seems to be always blurred as we are buried under gigabits of wasteful  information.  We know the information is always out there, and they are often readily available; however we can not acquire these useful information. Things can be even worst, as we often possess useful information within our data base but we are unable to read them. One can hardly image how to conduct business decisions base solely upon gut feeling, but this is unfortunately a common case.

This is why I strive for a career in marketing research and is interested in data mining. I believe the future is not in wall street where funds are traded or in silicon valley where peoples is obsessed with new gadgets. I believe the future is more modest. The future lies in the improvement of our methods to understand the real world and apply this in business setting!

In conclusion, my carrier objective is to have a career in the filed of market research. I aim to obtain a position of responsibilities that utilizes my skills and experience and keen to work in an environment that views acquiring useful information and generating useful knowledge as a core business competence.
