IT Audit Professionals: The New Warfighter for National Security
I had the privilege of attending a webinar hosted by Rodney Newton titled IT Audit Professionals: The New Warfighter for National Security. This webinar talked about Rodney’s personal experience in IT auditing and cybersecurity as well as just useful general information. We talked about the cybersecurity threat landscape and brought up a couple of examples of security leaks on sites like LinkedIn, Snapchat, and Venmo. I learned that 1 in 20 organizations in the U.S. fell victim to ransomware just last year. We also talked about how the Department of Defense uses cybersecurity and the importance of it. The DoD looks into things such as data breaches, weapon systems vulnerabilities, personnel security, and the financial costs of all of this. Thanks to this webinar I learned a great deal about cybersecurity, especially as how it relates to the government. I also learned about Rodney Newton’s journey to this specific field and several tips and tricks to succeed in this industry.
