Final Project – MIS2402
For my MIS 2402 Project, I have built a Rental Property Return on Investment (ROI)
Calculator. This concept sparked from when I was on Airbnb planning a visit to
Poconos. I started to think about all the financial aspects of renting property. I wonder
how property owners can maintain a profit on their asset. That curiosity led me into
making this calculator.
The application helps potential real estate investors determine if a rental property is a
sound purchase before they commit significant funds. With short-term rental platforms
like Airbnb and VRBO growing in popularity, more people are looking into real estate
for passive income. Yet, many new investors lack an easy method to evaluate a
property’s financial promise ahead of time.
Users input four key details: the property’s purchase price, down payment percentage,
expected monthly rental income, and estimated monthly expenses (like property
taxes, insurance, and maintenance). The application then uses these figures to
calculate the total down payment, monthly and annual cash flow, and the annual ROI
