Where Is the Data? Making Data Visualizations Accessible to All
I am a Management Information Systems (MIS) major at Temple University. As such, I attended the workshop titled “Where Is the Data? Making Data Visualizations Accessible to All.” This workshop was conducted by Temple University Libraries as part of Love Data Week 2026. The workshop was conducted online. As a participant in the workshop, I learned about the importance of accessible design and how to apply best practices to create accessible data visualizations like graphs, charts, dashboards, infographics, etc. As a participant in the workshop, I learned how accessible design can cater to different types of users, including people who use screen readers or have visual impairments. This workshop was helpful to me as it enabled me to learn more about accessible design in terms of data visualizations. This is particularly important for MIS majors because it is essential to design user-friendly dashboards as well as communicate data insights to users in a responsible manner.
