The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Communications Workers
Artificial Intelligence is coming into the forefront of the modern day world. Many concerns are coming forward regarding how Artificial Intelligence will affect jobs especially in the corporate world. In an article written by Anthony Petrucci, “How Artificial Intelligence Will Impact Corporate Communications,” Petrucci delves into positive reinforcement regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it will serve as a new level of trust between corporations and customers. With AI, communications teams will receive better analytical insights and predictive analysis. This, in turn, will allow corporations to release information that is more truthful. Petrucci makes an interesting point regarding AI by saying that we have the power to control AI in a good and useful way. Overall Petrucci states that AI will be able to deliver news to targeted audiences, enable faster responses, and catalyze deeper learnings on company insights.
This topic relates to a lot of things that we are dealing with in MIS2502. One topic that this directly relates to is the use of R/R Studio for data mining. If the communications team at Target had access to R Studio for the use of Market Basket Analysis, then they would be able to learn a lot more about their customers! This could lead to targeted advertising based on the items in their past purchases and more truthful information about “Best Selling” products on a company’s website shopping page.
An example of Artificial Intelligence being used in corporate communications currently is Facebook! Facebooks communications team creates blog posts and digital content and see how users interact with it on their news feed. From there, they use this data to customize a user’s newsfeed to articles, blogs, and videos to things that they normally show interest in.
