Cloud-based Analytics
Information is an important asset in today business world. People use data analytics to turn raw data that were collected into useful information to suit their purposes. Cloud analytics is a way for organization or individual to do business analytics and turn information into intelligence by using integrate some or all of the data analytics services into one solution. Using it with cloud database is ideal because cloud centralizes data from all sources in an organization in a big scale and cloud analytics can be used to decipher that data.
Cloud analytics is connected to the materials covered in the MIS 2502 course. Cloud analytics usually is SaaS-base solutions but it also can be a hybrid solution that uses cloud database as oppose to the physical database. Cloud is essentially a big data warehouse that was covered in Dimensional Data Modeling. It joins together everybody’s data in an organization in real time making it easier to match, merge, and clean data.
To analyze data, people do not perform the calculations from scratch themselves but use data mining programs similar to R and Association Rule programs. Cloud analytics which integrates the properties of those programs will be feed with data from the database and use pre-programs and rules to break down the raw data into information that professionals can use to fulfill their goals. This information will be in many forms such as chart and plots that were covered Data Visualization.
One current application of this technique is the SAP BusinessObjects Cloud. It is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution that consolidated all properties of analytics programs such as discover, visualize, plan, and predict to help alleviate the problem of point solutions and too many data silos in a company. It promises to deliver real-time analytics to everyone whether they are in a boardroom or in front of a customer.
