I learned that making graphs, charts, dashboards, and infographics accessible isn’t just a “nice to have” — it’s something you plan for on purpose. The workshop showed me how to use smart color choices (so meaning isn’t only shown by color), clear labels and descriptions, and strong alternative text to explain what the visual is showing for people using screen readers. I also learned that sometimes you need supplemental formats (like a short text summary or data table) and that there are tools that can help check and improve accessibility so more people can actually understand the data.
