Technical Architects, Stay Ahead of the Top 6 GenAI Security Risks

The Gartner webinar, sponsored by the leading IT research and advisory firm Gartner, Inc., provided a comprehensive overview of the top security threats and risks associated with the rapid adoption of generative AI technologies. As a highly informed MIS student from Temple University’s Fox School of Business, I participated in this webinar to gain a deeper understanding of the emerging security challenges posed by GenAI and strategies to mitigate them.

The webinar covered the key components of GenAI, including foundation models, large language models like ChatGPT, and other generative AI techniques. It then delved into the top six categories of security threats and risks, ranging from data loss and prompt injection to output risks, data poisoning, and retrieval vulnerabilities. The session emphasized the importance of establishing a strong cloud, data, and application security foundation before implementing GenAI-specific controls. It also highlighted the need for organizations to continuously learn and stay up-to-date on the evolving GenAI security landscape.

This webinar was highly relevant to my coursework in MIS, where I have been studying the technical foundations of AI and machine learning. Understanding the security implications of generative AI is crucial as I look to pursue a career in the rapidly evolving field of AI development and deployment. The insights gained from this Gartner webinar will help me better prepare for the security challenges that may arise as I work to incorporate GenAI technologies into future applications and projects.
