Boat People SOS
Boat People SOS (BPSOS) is a national Vietnamese American community organization with the mission to empower, organize, and equip Vietnamese individuals and communities in their pursuit of liberty and dignity. I work at the local branch called BPSOS-Delaware Valley in which they serve the Philadelphia and South Jersey region.
At BPSOS, I am the volunteer manager for the organization where I recruit volunteers through various online media. I also schedule and interview potential volunteers and send out through email volunteer profile to the staff where I include a brief summary of the person and what they are interested in along with the skills they possessed. Besides recruitment, I also manage the volunteer spreadsheet that includes all of the volunteer information. Currently, I’m in the midst of transferring data from the spreadsheet into an online database called Apricot and utilizing the database to record volunteer hours by having the volunteers input the times through a secure web form.
Besides managing the volunteers, I also manage the donors. With every donations, I record the information on a donor database called DonorPerfect and ensure they get their receipt along with a thank you letter. I also helped out with a little of the finance by keeping track of their designed budget and ensuring each programs has sufficient fund without overspending.
