Dance

I took dance classes, including jazz, ballet, modern, and lyrical,  at Jane Lopoten’s School of Dance for six years. Every year all of the classes would perform at our recital. Outside of the studio, we performed at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. During the race, we danced on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum.

Community Service Throughout the Years

In 2013, I participated at Temple University’s HootaThon. HootaThon is Temple University’s Dance Marathon to benefit the kids at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. We raised money and awareness  through the Children’s Miracle Network for the Child Life department at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Participants stayed up for twelve hours while dancing, hearing patients’ stories, playing games, and doing various activities.

In 2011 and 2012, I participated in World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine through my church’s youth group. Every year, hundreds of thousands of students in the U.S. (and more around the world) unite to do the Famine. This program allows one to learn about hunger, raise funds to help hungry kids, and experience hunger for themselves.

From 2006-2011, I participated in Operation Christmas Child. Through this program, I was able to buy christmas gifts that fit in a shoebox, or small box, for over one-hundred million children all over the world.

In June of 2011, I was a volunteer at School’s Out! Kids’ Triathalon.

In the Summer of 2009, I was a volunteer at Manna on Main Street in Lansdale, PA. Manna on Main Street is a soup kitchen and food cupboard that serves people in need living in the North Penn Area My duties were to unload and restock the shelves with the donated canned goods and food. I would help make the dinners for the people who came to eat. I would perform any other essential task that was given to me.

In the Summer of 2008, I was a volunteer at Elm Terrace Gardens in Lansdale, PA. Elm Terrace Gardens is a retirement community with an assisted living facility. My duties there were to lead group activities, such as exercising, painting nails, and much more. I would talk one-on-one with the residents at the facility to learn more about them. I would assist the staff when needed.
