“Learning Data Science: Understanding the Basics” by Doug Rose
This course, sponsored by Doug Rose, covered the basics of data science and how it applies to real-life situations. It started with the essential approaches to working with data, such as the empirical approach and scientific method, both of which were consistent themes within the course. The curriculum then moves on to storing, scrubbing, and analyzing data, as well as what all of that means and how it applies to business models. Next, Doug spoke about databases vs data warehouses and where the use of each is appropriate. Lastly, Doug speaks about different types of data–structured, semistructured, and unstructured and how to utilize each kind of data as well as how that applies to the predictive analysis of data.
