I have been volunteering for the Narenj tree Foundation ever since they were founded, late 2013. I started to volunteer a year before they actually established the organization. It all began with the donation of some clothing, that led to seven 30 foot trailers. Towards the end of the year 2013, I got a phone call saying that an official non-profit organization had been established.
This organization was spread mostly by the word of mouth. I helped spread the word by talking to family and friends. After that I extended to my community and social media resources. It was a great experience on improving my marketing and communication skills as well.
Interacting in such environment, gave me the opportunity to meet so many amazing people. We started off with 3-5 volunteers, and currently have over 50 contacts who volunteer based on availability. This small non-profit, now provides aid for thousands of refugees overseas. Applying the right amount of effort can really make change possible. Working with the Narenj Tree, gave me more hope and courage to seek what I want to achieve.
