Clinical Operations Intern
Immunocore is a pioneering biotechnology company headquartered in Conshohocken, PA, specializing in T-cell receptor (TCR) therapeutics for cancer, infectious diseases, and autoimmune conditions. I worked within the Clinical Operations department, a cross-functional team responsible for supporting and managing ongoing clinical trials and operational initiatives.
In my role as Clinical Operations Intern, I assisted with the planning, execution, and management of clinical trial activities. My primary responsibilities included preparing study-related documents, coordinating meetings, tracking project milestones, and supporting Trial Master File (TMF) management. I also provided administrative support and contributed to special projects aimed at improving operational efficiency.
Key projects included conducting technology evaluations for multiple clinical programs, where I collaborated with project managers, the IT department and data teams to identify pain points such as data silos, manual processes, and lack of system integration. I recommended solutions like centralized dashboards, automated document management, and enhanced interoperability between sponsor and CRO systems. Additionally, I led the “AI Landscape” project, researching and presenting how artificial intelligence is transforming the biopharma industry, with a focus on immunotherapy and TCR technologies. My findings informed future technology strategy and innovation within the department.
This internship directly related to my Management Information Systems (MIS) major, especially concepts from MIS 2101 (Digital Systems) and MIS 2502 (Data and Analytics). I applied classroom knowledge of systems analysis, data management, and digital transformation to real-world business challenges. The experience strengthened my ability to evaluate and implement information systems solutions in a highly regulated, data-driven environment, and deepened my understanding of how emerging technologies like AI can drive operational improvements in the biotech industry.
