Uber seems to me to be a low-end disruption. This is because it doesn’t necessarily do anything new, only the means of getting the end result are different. The actual service, transport, has been around for centuries, and being able to call in a transport has been around for a long time as well. The only real innovation behind Uber is the…[Read more]

Conglomerates like Google purchasing any potential competitor has the potential to stifle disruptive innovations, but not always. If the reason they acquire is out of fear that a product will displace them, then they will do what they can to stop that from happening. However, the potentially disruptive technology could be expedited by a…[Read more]

I don’t think traditional airlines’ failure to continually innovate leaves them at risk of being taken over. They are far too ingrained in the world’s infrastructure to be seriously damaged. They have a great deal of social and political power that would make it very hard to be displaced. Perhaps airline innovations could take off (hehe) and find…[Read more]

Technologies are being adopted at a much faster rate than ever before, making it difficult to know which disruptive technology is truly disruptive, and if so, when an organization should implement the new […]

Traditional cable’s monopoly over consumers days are numbered. Streaming services have proven to be a highly disruptive technology to traditional cable. The future of TV will be structured as more of a SaaS, wherein customers will only pay for things they are using. Agreeing with the comment above, customers are tired of paying for 100+ channels…[Read more]

Most companies with an ERP system have some sort of hybrid system – generally through purchasing a cloud service that then must integrate with a preexisting on-site solution. This can tend to create work, as I […]

We want to build a platform that would help gamers find better teams and provide a place where players can find people to practice with or against. For instance, most team-based games have players that fill specific roles. If I specialize in healing and have spent 50+ hours practicing…[Read more]

Additionally, our platform would also connect teams and players to others in their skill level for competitive type games or ranked matches. These matches will be where players and teams put their skills to the test as all the matches will be recorded to create individual ranks. These ranks will dictate who is matched up with who to ensure that…[Read more]

This sounds interesting. My challenge is I know very little about gaming, well other than solitaire and wolfestein! If this is really new then it sounds like you have something here. The scope is good and it is doable and has sufficient complexity. What do the other members of the class think? Would something like this be new and used by gamers?

Some places are more conservative about getting things into the internet, which in this case is the cloud storage. Top managements will see as a HIPPa violation or not safe for our clients and for out company. Most business still face the challenges of using cloud technology to move forward with the business. For example, there is an article that explains the usage of cloud technology to enhance more Big Data. The article states companies still having the “fear” of cloud computing. Also, another reason for having hybrid systems is the cost of trying to change a big piece in the system. Top management will still have a hold on the all cloud system due to cost related.
