Not part of a team yet. Looking!
I want to build a solution for fitness-minded women by introducing them to other like-minded women who prefer the same kind of workouts or go to the same gym in the area. This fills the needs of women who either aren’t confident enough or too intimidated to go to the gym by themselves and would be more comfortable going with other women like them. Right now, unless you have a group of friends who like the same workouts and gym that you do, it is hard to find a gym buddy who is enjoys the same workout experience as you do.
There would be an initial sign up form that would ask for workout preferences, local area/zip code, what gym they go to, and so on. It would be a location-based social platform for women looking to improve their fitness. There would be a meetup application that would set a time and place (that would sync with Google Calendar) for women to meet and run, walk, gym, yoga, Zumba, whatever they like. It would offer “gym buddy” suggestions to the user of other users who go to the same gym or like the same type of workouts that the user does. For example, if a woman is intimidated to go into the weight room alone, she could search on the app for someone who also wants to lift weights and they can meet up and conquer it together! This would solve a growing problem among women who want to get fit but don’t want to go it alone.
Good start. Some questions: There are quite a few gender specific apps. Nothing like this exists? Would people bother connecting in this manner with other random people if the association is just gender? More importantly, wouldn’t this be a one and done deal? You find one person you like who has a compatible schedule and location and you stop using the app?
