Using OpenStreetMap Data for Urban Spatial Analysis: Crowdsourced Geography for Research
During this workshop, we learned how to navigate the OpenStreetMap (OSM) ecosystem, extracted datasets such as roads, buildings, amenities, etc., and contributed to improvements on the map through direct editing. Additionally, we covered some data download methods, techniques involving quality assessment and integration with GIS software for spatial analysis. This workshop is beneficial towards my professional career as it helped me learn and apply navigating datasets in a real setting rather than just strictly in a classroom. Additionally, being able to understand how GIS software works can help me discover trends and certain areas where other data streams connect.
