Munich Reinsurance America, Inc.
In the Summer of 2013, I interned at Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. as a Business Analyst in Corporate Claims. More specifically, I spent time in the Environmental Mass Tort (EMT) and Business Run-Off (BRO) units.
The EMT and BRO units are responsible for the handling and management of long-term/legacy claims, which in insurance is a fancy name for claims that have a long exposure. My role in the organization was to assist the Claims Specialists and Account Managers with handling larger legacy claims, such as asbestos, pollution, and NFL concussion claims. As a result, my Excel skills increased because I constantly mined and handled mass amounts of data.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Munich Re because it provided me hands-on work in the insurance industry, and affirmed that Insurance is indeed the industry for me.
