Welcome back, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
This is Week #13. We are coming down to our last 3 classes of the semester. A few reminders as we enter tonight’s class.
1. Tonight, Coding Assignment #2 is due at 11:59pm. Please remember to name your files appropriately, LastName_FirstName. Please use the name you are registered in the class with in order minimize delays with grading your assignments OR risk receiving a 0 on the assignment.
2. Gradebook was recently updated over the holiday – if you received a 0 on an assignment there are any number of reasons this could be the case. You may not have named your assignment properly, therefore, I am unable to determine who turned in the assignment – i.e. many of you received a 0 on the coding academy assignment because you either did not name your file appropriately OR your name was not visible on the screen shot that you turned in OR you turned in the WRONG screen shot which still did not have your name on it OR you just didn’t turn it in at all.
3. For those of you who submitted the Code Academy Assignment on time and received a 0 because your assignment was not able to be identified as your assignment because either the file was named incorrectly or you did not provide a screen shot that identified that it was your assignment. If you submitted the WRONG screen shot you will not receive credit. Please Go back and look at what you turned in – if your name is not visible in the screen shot or the file name is not appropriately named – you can resubmit your file directly to me again by midnight TONIGHT, 12/2/2019, so that I can match it to your original submission. If I can not match it with what you have already submitted, you will receive a 0 for the assignment. If you did NOT submit this assignment when it was originally due – please DO NOT send your assignment to me – this is NOT a new opportunity to submit the assignment. This request is only for those who submitted the assignment on time but I was unable to determine WHO the assignment belonged to.
4. Tonight we will review LOOPS. There will be 3 in class challenges and 3 homework assignments tonight. Please ensure you review Deck 13.1, review the video on loops as well as read Chapter 5 on loops in order to be prepared for the discussion and in class assignment. For those of you who like to get ahead, the files can be downloaded and setup – please make sure your code runs properly. Our student workers will be in class again to provide assistance in class to help with getting your programs working and to make sure you have an understanding of the programs.
5. Coding assignment #3 will be due this FRIDAY Dec 6, 2019 at 11:59pm. This assignment focusing on bringing together all of the coding concepts we have discussed over the last 3 weeks and enables you to demonstrate your new programming skills. Please take advantage of the VIRTUAL HELPDESK should you need help with the coding assignments. I encourage you to not wait until the last minute to seek assistance.
6. Finally, for those of you looking ahead to the LearnIT#2 assignment. I again, encourage you all to not wait until the last minute on this assignment. If you find that it is not working or you have no analytics, please remember to read through the assignment to ensure that you understand what data needs to be collected in order to complete the assignment. If you are having difficulty with google analytics, go back to LearnIT#1 and re-apply the instructions carefully (you must follow the steps and set each setting properly) for setting up the analytics. If you continue to have issues, please schedule time with the VIRTUAL HELPDESK which can be found on the top tab of our community page. And finally, if you need my assistance, please reach out to me directly.
Regards,
Dr Burrell
