REMINDERS: Week #7 Oct 14, 2019 – MSCIS 2101 Section 4

October 14, 2019 Leave a Comment

Welcome to week #7.

Please remember Learn IT#1 is due tonight.  This assignment will need to be turned in for grading via the OWLBOX gadget on the LearnIT#1 assignment page (scroll down to the submission instructions).

Tonight we have a lot of material to cover (slide deck 7.1) and two in-class activities related to ERD diagramming (ICA #19 AND ICA#20).  I will cover a summary of the course materials, so please be sure that you are well prepared by reviewing the readings and video’s prior to class.

Please also make sure that you check your technology devices BEFORE class and ensure you can access the activity links.  You must be able to login to the Course community site with your TEMPLE.EDU email account – so if you use any other GMAIL accounts on your devices you will need to log out of those and log in with your TEMPLE.EDU email account.   At this stage of the course due to how much content we will need to cover, I will not have time in class to assist with troubleshooting any login or access issues.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

REMINDERS: Week #6 Oct 7, 2019 – MSCIS 2101 Section 4

October 9, 2019 Leave a Comment

Students,

Welcome to Week #6.

Tonight we will be discussing platforms. Ensure that you have reviewed the topics and required readings – there are 6 and viewed the required viewings – there are 3 required viewings. Please do so prior to class so that we may have an active discussion.

You should have started the LearnIT#1 and #2 lab activities. Please ensure that you follow the directions and SUBMIT your PDF to the correct OWLBOX widget on the assignment page. Assignments sent directly to me will NOT be accepted. Please ensure your technology issues are resolved BEFORE the due dates for the assignment.

We have a very busy night tonight. We will have 2 in-class activities – Procure to Pay (which will be submitted in class) and Learn IT#1 and #2 (which will not be collected in class). Please take the time to review these before coming to class so that you are familiar with the activity.

You will need your laptops or technology devices this evening. Please ensure your technology issues are resolved BEFORE coming to class (login issues, password/ID resets, etc). You will have to be logged into the class community website in order to submit the in-class activities.

Exam #1

Students,

Just wanted to follow-up this morning and thank everyone for being patient last night with the unfortunate mishap on the exam copies.  I have spoken with the Course chair regarding the issue and explained the situation and the mitigation of displaying the exam via overhead and extending the exam time an additional 60 minutes.  I’m assured that changes will be put in place to ensure this does not happen again.

Again, thanks for your patience and understanding.  I am expecting to have your test scores available to me by the end of the week and I should be able to have new grades posted over the weekend.  Please pay attention to your email for updates.

9/23/2019

Students,

I’m getting a ton of emails tonight regarding your assignment that is due at 11:59pm.

A few things:

1. Please be mindful and READ your reminder emails.  They provide you will key information regarding the course.  In addition, the community course site contains a wealth of information as well.

2. The reminder from this week also provide your with detailed step by step instructions for how to submit your assignments, including what to do if you do not see the submission widget – LOG IN!!

3. DO NOT SUBMIT ASSIGNMENTS TO MY EMAIL – your assignment will NOT be graded.

4. And finally, do not wait until the last minute to work on the lab assignments.  I can guarantee you that you will NOT do well if you wait until the last minute.  Help is not available and I will not stay up to try to support you on the night the assignment is due.

Help for the lab can be found on the course website – the preflight provides you with a link for technical support on the max lab.

Lab 1a and 1b

September 24, 2019 Leave a Comment

Monday 9/23/19

Based on the number of students who had already submitted 1a and 1b labs and started 2a and 2b (which changed the data for 1a and 1b)  prior to my email regarding the screen capture requirements – I am going to accept your 1a and 1b assignments as is.  Do not stress on trying to go back an re-do 1a and 1b just to capture your name in the screen shot.

Going forward, for future labs (including 2a and 2b), please make sure you adhere to the requirements of capturing your name in the screen shot as well as a second screen shot without your name so that data is displayed.

Login Name Must Be Included in ALL screen captures & Submission File Naming Convention

September 23, 2019 Leave a Comment

Students,

A couple of additional items regarding the assignment that is due tonight.

1. It has come to my attention that there may be some confusion about the requirement to CAPTURE your MaxLabs LOGIN name in ALL screen captures that are required to be turned in tonight.
Please make sure as you are collecting your screen captures that your LOGIN name is captured in each and every screen shot that you are required to turn in.  If the login name covers a portion of your assignment, please capture both a screen shot with your name and without your name.

If you have already submitted your assignment and need to correct it because you did not include your login name on each screenshot, please go ahead and resubmit it – I will grade the most current submission.

2. Also please do not forget the naming convention on the PDF that you submit – I mentioned this in class and followed-up with an email.  Here’s an additional reminder regarding the naming convention of the file that you submit.  If you did it wrong – please resubmit it correctly before the deadline.

Here is an example of the naming convention of the file name: FirstName_LastName_ Answer-Sheet-for-Max-labs-1a-and-1b.pdf

I  have already received the following 5 submissions in the OWLBOX WITH NO NAME.

Please let me know if these instructions are not clear and you require further clarification.

Students,

Welcome to Week #4 of MSCIS 2101 Section 4.

Please remember that class tonight will be in Kiva Auditorium which is in Ritter Annex, across the quad from Alter.  Please see my previous announcement from last week if you need a campus map.

1. Another reminder that a laptop/ipad or internet accessible device is REQUIRED for this course and must be brought to class each week night.  This is a requirement of the Fox School of Business. You will be required to access and submit google forms during the group assignments of the course.  Please ensure that you can access the Activity links before coming to class.  This requires you to log-in using your TU ID (email address) which is a gmail associated account.  If you have issues or are not able to access the activity links – please use myaccount.google.com to login to your TU ID account.

2.  Max Labs 1a/1b is due tonight at 11:59pm.  Remember, late submissions will not be accepted.  You must login to the class website, navigate to the Assignments Tab and click on the 02-Max Lab 1a/1b page and look for the Submission Widget at the bottom of the page.  This is where you will turn in your assignment.  If you can not see the widget, you are not properly logged into the course website.

3.  This week we will focus on learning about Enterprise Resource planning systems and Customer Relationship management systems and how they are used by the Digital Product manager to enable technology solutions for customers.  Please ensure that you review the required readings (there are 6), the required viewings (there are 2) and the discussion slide deck that I will be lecturing on tonight (deck 4.1).

4. Tonight we will also have a quick review of the exam for next week and what is expected.
