JavaScript Absolute Beginner’s Guide <\/strong><\/em>by Kirupa Chinnathambi Please download and install the following pieces of software:<\/p>\n Google Chrome<\/strong> \u2013 While there are a variety of great browsers out there, we will be using Google Chrome in the classroom for two reasons.\u00a0 First, it runs on both Windows and Mac.\u00a0 Second, it has a great set of \u201cDeveloper Tools\u201d that you will use during the programming part of the course.<\/p>\n VS Code<\/strong> is a free text editor created by Microsoft. It is a lightweight version of their commercial product, Visual Studio. It runs on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, and Linux platforms. It is a good editor for JavaScript, HTML and CSS. It also supports a large number of extensions that allow the VS Code editor to be adapted to many purposes. You will find instructions for the VS Code installation under the “HELPFUL LINKS<\/strong>” primary sidebar (conveniently located on the right column of this page).<\/p>\n In the first part of the course, we will be using Max Labs, an interactive platform centered around experiential learning via Salesforce. You will be required to pay a fee of $19.99 as you start the first Max Labs assignment. Do NOT skip ahead and pay! Listen carefully in class to your instructor for additional details.<\/p>\n In order to be successful on the MIS 2101 exams, you will need to complete all <\/em>of the assigned readings and watch all<\/em> of the assigned videos prior to each class. Attend classes regularly and take notes during class as well as during assignments. The readings and videos, combined with the class discussion decks and in-class discussions, will enable you to prepare your own study guides.
