It is used in the world of business to solve problems.\u00a0 In MIS we use technology to solve day-to-day problems. Systems are comprised of three separate entities &#8211; people, processes, and technology. Information Technology has made a huge impact on how businesses operate, whether in business-to-business interactions or business-to-consumer interactions.\u00a0 An example of how IT impacted B-2-B interactions is through supply chain. A mechanic can order a part from a supplier completely virtually. The mechanic can submit a order request to the supplier, the supplier can rather fulfill the request or not, and then they can send the part to the mechanic through a delivery medium. The interaction is similar for B-2-C interaction. The swim lanes we learned to draw in class can much more concisely describe the process compared to my text explanation. These systems also pose a great asset for businesses &#8211; data.
