Creating and saving to a practice folder

January 20, 2026

You may want to grab an ICA or assignment and redo it as practice which is a great idea. To do that follow these steps:

  • once you are in the terminal type cd wwwroot to make sure you are in your folder
  • type unzip htmlintro.zip -d practicefolder   (this creates the practice folder for the first time and puts this file in it)
  • type cd practicefolder  (this selects the folder)
  • type ls  (this will show you what is in the folder)
  • type nano intro.html  (intro would be replaced with whatever the file name is)
  • When you open in a browser it will have the format misdemo.temple.edu/tux12345a/practicefolder/intro.html
  • When you want to practice a different file from here on out, you will go into cd wwwroot then cd practicefolder then do your wget line. This saves it in the practice folder and does not overwrite your original.

Welcome to MIS2402

December 19, 2025

Hello and welcome to MIS2402, section 001. I look forward to our first class together.

Many students ask me how they can best prepare for the course.  I have some advice!

  1. Download and install the course related software before the start of class (see the Links section on the right hand side of the site).
  2. On the first day of class, I will take attendance, review the course (as it is documented on this site), and do an In Class Activity (ICA).

I look forward to seeing you in class on Tuesday 1/13.
