MIS2402 – resources for you

Hello everyone,

Here are some resources to help you prepare for the next “hands on” 2402 quiz.

  1. On Monday 11/6 at 6pm, Mona Younes and Aaroush Bhanot from the MIS Helpdesk for Coding will be hosting a review session.
  2. The session will be held via zoom.
  3.  The session will be recorded and the recording will be shared with all when it is available.
  4. The focus of the session will be on reviewing the practice exercises 4 and 5 found here. 

A couple words of friendly advice.

  1. None of the above is a substitute for your own, persistent, efforts.  It’s meant to be a help, not a cure-all.
  2. Try completing the practice exercises on your own, before the review session.  You will learn a lot more that way, and be more confident.
  3. Be strategic in what you put on your notes page. For example:
    • Don’t write down big blocks of code and hope to transcribe them effectively during the quiz.  This is a very bad strategy. 
    • Remember: The practice exercises are not the quiz, and the quiz is not the practice exercise.
    • Do write down facts that you are likely to forget.  For example, if you perpetually forget how to use the “to upper case” string method, write down a single line of code that will help you remember the proper spelling, case, and use of that command. 
    • The notes page is meant to supplement your learning, not to replace it.
    • In the upcoming quiz, you will be expected to upload their work to misdemo, and write down the URL where your work can be found.  It would be super smart for you to write down your misdemo username and password on your notes page!!!
