In class we discussed several examples of how data can be stored in different formats in two different sources (i.e., a date can be represented mm/dd/yyyy or dd/mm/yyyy). Give your own example of a scenario, other than the ones we discussed in class, where data could be represented two different ways. How would you reconcile this conflict when combining the data sources?
The weekly question is off this week, and it is busy studying for the exam.
Here is the more complicated example of a subselect. This should help you complete your second assignment.
Our exam review will be held during class on September 27. What is a topic (or specific question) that you would like to discuss during the review session to prepare for the exam?
Describe a situation where you could use a join to retrieve information from a set of tables. For example, if you have orders in one table and customers in another table, you’d need to join those tables to figure out which orders were placed by the customers who lived in Pennsylvania.
What do you think is the trickiest thing about creating an ERD from a problem description? What advice would you give to deal with that issue?
