My wife, Kim, and I are supporters of an non-profit organization called “Fostering Hope” (see fosteringhopepa.com ) . Fostering Hope is all about helping children who are entering the Foster Care system, and their foster families. Kim and I have been foster-parents ourselves, and we know how meaningful such support is. Kim is the Chapter Coordinator for the newest branch of that organization – the Northeast Philadelphia chapter.
After a long search for adequate storage and office space, Kim made contact with the leadership at Redemption Lutheran Church. They have most generously agreed to let her use three large rooms, rent free! But the rooms need some work… painting and wallpaper removal.
So – AIS has now set up a “work day” on 11/25 (the Saturday after Thanksgiving). This activity counts towards your AIS community credit.
It will be about a 4–5 hour commitment during the day from about 11AM to 4PM in which food is provided.
If transportation is a concern, I may be able to assist, I can transport up to 10 people from campus to the church.
This will count as a community service credit if completed for AIS. If you live in the Northeast Philadelphia region or will be at Temple and available on that day, your help will be greatly appreciated!
Location: Redemption Lutheran Church, 8001 Bustleton Ave
Date: 11/25/2023
Time: 4-5 Hour commitment from 11AM to around 4PM
AIS Sign up form: https://tinyurl.com/shafer11252023
So, if you have read this far, thank you. I know that everyone has lots to do over the break, and that everyone (even your professors) will want to rest a bit too.
But if you can invest some of your time on 11/25, you can know that you are making the world just a little bit better for some child who has gone through some unbelievably difficult circumstances.

Hello all,
In class today we will work through ICA 7, and announce the corresponding homework assignment.
The PRO point project (which will be of interest to MIS majors only) will also be announced.

Here we go … into the final frontier! Data Analysis!
No ICA today. Instead we will look at some lecture materials meant to prepare us for the remaining weeks of the semester.

Hello everyone,
You have an exam next class, Monday 11/6.
To help you prepare for the exam, an ITA of mine has agreed to hold an online review session. The session details are as follows:
Material to be covered … a slide deck recapping key concepts from the last few weeks, as well as the last few Python ICAs. There will be a strategic emphasis on ICAs 8 and 9.
None of the above is a substitute for your own, persistent, efforts. It’s meant to be a help, not a cure-all.
Your regular ITA, Najuk Patel, will be available to respond to study/prep questions via canvas messaging. Najuk could not be available to present this weekend. Manali (who is not the regular ITA for you all) graciously agreed to run this session in her place!

HOT TIP:
I recommend review of ICAs 8 and 9 for exam prep.
We did those, step by step, in class on 10/18 and 10/23
In class today we will wrap up our discussion of Data Visualization. The corresponding ICA is due tonight.
