All assignments (Knowledge Checks and Node.js) must be completed and submitted before the start of class on the due date listed in the course schedule. Any assignment submitted after the start of class on the due date is considered late. For the Node.js assignments, there will be a 20% per day penalty. After two days, no late Node.js assignments will be accepted. This policy does not apply to the Knowledge Checks. No late Knowledge Chek submissions will be accepted.
The two types of assignments are Knowledge Checks and Node.js programs.
Knowledge Checks – Knowledge Checks are short, multiple-choice quizzes found at the end of each AWS Academy Cloud Foundations module. Knowledge Checks can be taken as many times as the student would like to help them maximize their score. The assigned Knowledge Checks must be completed by the start of class on the day it is due. From a class grading perspective, a snapshot of the grade for the assigned knowledge check will be taken at the start of class on the day it is due and this grade will be recorded in the class grade book. However, a student can continue to take the Knowledge Check after the due date and after their grade has been recorded in order to increase their score to meet the requirement of the PRO Points Assignment (below).
Node.js Programs – During the second half of the semester where Node.js is introduced, students will be assigned a number of simple programs that they must write. Starter files are provided for each assigned program. The naming convention for the files and the directions for writing each program are included in the starter files. Students conform to the naming convention and must write the assigned programs. Students must e-Mail each program to their instructor before the start of class on the due date listed in the course schedule.
PRO Points Assignment
Overview and Purpose:
While this course utilizes most of the modules from the AWS Academy Cloud Foundations course, it does not utilize them all. For students who are considering preparing for and taking the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam, at a minimum, they will need to cover the remaining modules. Students who complete all of the modules and complete all of the Knowledge Checks with a score of 80% or higher will earn a certificate from AWS.
Everyone who successfully completes the assignment will receive 50 PRO points.
Deliverable:
A page on your Community Site E-Portfolio that summarizes what you learned by completing all of the Knowledge Checks and displays your certificate. Send me a single email with links to the front page of your Community Site E-Portfolio and to your write-up page.
Students will also need to visit the “Manage Points” section on their dashboard on the Community site and request the awarding of points under the “Class project” category to have the points awarded.
The deadline is 11:59 PM on the last day of classes for the semester. No late submissions will be accepted!
