  1. I tried to sign up for AWS but it says that I am not eligible for the free plan! What should I do?

    My goal is to keep our usage below the free tier limits. So, even though you aren\u2019t eligible for the \u201cnew account\u201d credits, the outcome should remain the same: no cost out of pocket to you.<\/p>\n

    In my experience, it is more likely to have students leave something on \/ running from an earlier semester. So, that\u2019s why I am so insistent on starting with a brand new account\u2026. *even if* you don\u2019t get that nifty free credit.<\/p>\n

    So, yes, you should click confirm and continue.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. I am a Mac user and MySQL Workbench crashes unexpectedly<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 What should I do?\n

    You probably have version 8.0.32 of workbench (the latest one.) It is buggy on the MacOs.\u00a0 Check your version of workbench.\u00a0 If it is 8.0.32 then your fix is to uninstall\/trash that and go get version 8.0.31 from the MySQL Workbench download archive page: https:\/\/downloads.mysql.com\/archives\/workbench<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Tips: test your API with either a browser or a REST client, isolate the problematic code (it is usually the last thing you worked on!), edit your lambda’s event handler and test one specific function using the blue Test<\/span> button in AWS. This is probably the easiest way for you a specific error message and line number.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
  5. I uncovered an error that looks something like this “ER_ACCESS_DENIED_ERROR: Access denied for user ‘misXXX’@<\/span>‘ec2-54-99-99-99.compute-1.amazonaws.com’ (using password: YES)”\n
    This usually means that you have made one of these mistakes<\/p>\n
