Individual Assignment:

Swim Lane Process Flow

Develop a Swim lane process flow based on the Discount Auto Parts – Sales Order, located on the class web site. You may use one of the two Swim Lane templates  (Excel / PowerPoint) also located on the site or other templates found on the internet.

Please submit the assignment in hard copy form

Team Assignment:

Revised Team Project Scope based on follow up meetings with you team project managers.  If no changes have been made then there is no need to turn in a new version. If changes have been made please turn in a new hard copy and be prepared to review with me next class.

Team Assignment:

Prepare initial Team Project Scope documents based on the refined problem statements that were review at the end of last class.  Please turn in a hard copy at the end of next class and be prepared to review with your project manager assigned to your team.

Exam 1 Summary

Exam 1 will be given on Tuesday evening 9/22/2015 during the last 60 minutes of the class.

The exam will cover material in:

The four Class lecture PowerPoint Presentations:
Class 1 – Introduction to Business Analysis
Class 2 – Requirements and Stakeholders
Class 3 – Scoping a Project
Class 4 – Eliciting Requirements

Reading material found in the Seven Steps Text book
Chapter 1, 2, 3, 4

Exam will be comprised of (about) 40 questions, all multiple choice with 3  sections:

General questions from all four class discussion areas listed above

A section of questions associated with sample project scope document

A section of questions associated with a sample case focused on the project stakeholders, responsibilities and objectives

Create a project scope document based on the Modern Electronics / Distribution Warehouse case using the project scope template that can be found on the site under Tools and Templates

Reference the PowerPoint discussion deck posted for Week 3 – Project Scope

Please submit the assignment in hard copy form at the beginning of class on Tuesday evening 9/15/2015

I have posted 2 Project Scope samples under the Tools and Template section, these samples are not related to the case assigned, just wanted to give you a frame of reference when filling out the template.

 

Team Project work:

Complete refinements to the Team Project problem statement, be sure to have a clear definition of the project sponsor that you will be presenting your team’s solution to.

Be prepared to share the problem statement with the class and your supporting Project Management Team.

The first draft of the Team Project Scope document is due on 9/22/2015, leverage the problem statement in the development of the initial draft.

  • Download a copy of Justinmind to you local machine using the software key found in the course grade book.  (see link on class site under Justinmind Software)

2)  Team assignment for next class

Develop a Problem Statement for your semester class project. The problem statement should be a paragraph or two including the following items:

  • The Business Entity / Industry
  • Who the Project Sponsor will be for the project
  • What problem or opportunity will you be addressing in the project.  Call out the technology(s) or device(s) that may be incorporated in the proposed solution.

This is innovative design so look for ways to leverage new technology to address everyday challenges you may have observed in a business/industries operations.
