A new way to deal with rush hour traffic!
I accidentally came across this technology last week and thought it was so cool. It might not be a traditional “technology” but it definitely is a system. It was implemented in 2015 and I would love to see it come to route 476! It is a system that “consists of moveable barriers and a Road Zipper machine, replacing plastic tubes that previously separated outbound and inbound traffic which were unable to prevent crossover crashes in the event a driver lost vehicle control.”
The Road Zipper machine enables the six lanes of the bridge to be reconfigured to better cope with daily commuter traffic needs and any other issues that could cause traffic such as maintenance or a lane blocked from an accident. It ca feature up to 4 lanes in one direction and 2 lanes in the other direction. The Road Zipper System is one of the few options on the market that provides superior flexibility.
