“A no-maintenance weather station is important when you install in harsh environments that are exposed to dust, wind, and high temperatures,” said Giovanni Piccinni, Global Field Optimization and Production Sustainability Lead at Monsanto. “Having no moving parts is really key. It guarantees a continuous stream of high-quality data.”
IT is enhancing every industry and business around the world. But It is really impressing when an amazing technology can be environmentally friendly as well. This startup will provide real life accurate weather information that can be used to make decisions about irrigation, harvest times, and seed production. The company can in the future offer the data it collects to different potential customers, from insurance companies to farms to governments.
I think this is brilliant, and the data collected by the sensors can be utilized in so many ways. Again, IT is IT, and it can be used to improve any product or service.
Were you impressed by this innovation? Can you think of any limitations to the use of the stations? Leave you comments and thoughts below!

When you think of “IT” or “profit” what is the first thing that comes to mind ? Definitely not compassion!!
As surprising as it is, compassion is actually Microsoft’s secret to financial success. The company’s CEO Satya Nadella said in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning “ compassion is a crucial component of business. We are in the business of basically meeting unmet, unarticulated needs of customers, And there’s no way you’re going to be able to get that consistently right if you don’t have that deep sense of empathy, or being able to see what others are seeing.”
In a way that only a genius can think of, Nadella turned compassion into profit. He always entices his team members to be ethical, transparent, and honest. In a world where we think that all big organizations are corrupt, it is refreshing to have a big company like Microsoft have integrity but most importanly attribute their success to havinng integrity and compassion.
Are big corporations honestly ethical or they just project that image to the public? Is compassion that important in making the success of an IT company?

When we were reviewing the Cirque Du Soleil case, the conclusion was that IT is IT. IT can enhance any industry, and it’s definitely enhancing hacking ATMs by making it easier to steal money like it’s the jockpot. This actually, makes the case for why Cyber Security is so important right now.
Last week alone, six ATM hacking attacks happened in six different cities in the US resulting in a stolen sum of $1 million so far.
A cyber security firm tracked conversations around malware used for jackpotting and also people talking on some forums about new ATM hacking hardware targeting specific machines. The same company spotted a jackpotting guide available for sale on one dark web forum
The same way IT can take a business to the next level and make some aspects of our lives easier, it can be used for criminal activity as well because again IT is IT!
What do you think is the solution to stop these criminal activities? Fight IT with IT? How important is Cyber Security now that we face all this hacking targeted specifically towards financial situations and individuals?
