Amazon is one of the largest e-commerce business in America today. It has tested, experimented and launched many different types of business strategies and products. The most recent plan that Amazon announced is the “Anticipatory Shipping”, which Amazon ships products to consumers before they place orders. Amazon has filed a patent for this shipping method. This is to reduce the shipping time, which amazes me that they already have a great 2-day shipping method for prime members. This will be performed based off from the big data that Amazon constantly collects from customers such as patterns of purchase.
Will this be successful? In my personal opinion, I would say yes. In case the order was not demanded, the transportation cost might be a big factor. However, this can easily be resolved in the near future because Amazon also stated that it is preparing for drone shipment. Applying drones for the delivery system drastically drop the transportation cost in both labor and energy wise. Also, Amazon announced that Amazon will create “detail various scenarios for “speculatively shipping” packages to destinations and how to re-route items based on proximity to potential customers — and even how packages might remain in near continuous transit on trucks until a customer makes a purchase.” Once this is launched, it is time for businesses to enter next level of e-commerce experience and this will change many business shipping products to customers.
