Auditing Controls in ERP Systems - 2017

Week 1: Lessons Learned

August 28, 2017 by Edward N Beaver Leave a Comment

There’s always something new about teaching each semester that we learn or I have to relearn. This post summarizes e-mail note sent to class about these issues and few others from prior classes:

  • SAP System ID‘s. Important for those participating online who could access the paper list I shared in class. An up to date copy of the list will remain on the ‘Roster / Schedule / Teams’ link on the course blog.

Remember the system we’re using is GB5. Client Number: 639

Initial password is TOwlsPAS (case sensitive). You’ll enter your own password when you logon the first time. Remember it. I can reset the password if necessary (Send me and e-mail). However if I have to reset you’ll lose a small extra credit toward your grade.

  • Class VideoAs I will do every week, the class video captured from last night is now linked on the Week 1 – page in the Schedule section of the blog.

Unfortunately, due to the technical issues we had with WebEx, the SAP exercise session was not recorded. You can watch a similar video fromWeek 1 of 2016 class sessionabout logging onto SAP. Note: the System details (e.g. client number) may be slightly different in 2017 class.

  • WebEx I had to change the WebEx meeting details to a ‘training session’ to support on-line breakout groups that we’ll start using week 2. The WebEx link was changed on the course blog. Details of the new link are below.

    To join the training session:
    1. Go tohttps://foxsbm.webex.com/foxsbm/k2/j.php?MTID=td5c7cf554ee63f17665b7886efdc9332
    2. Enter your name and email address.
    3. Enter the session password: This session does not require a password..
    4. Click “Join Now”.
    5. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen.
To view in other time zones or languages, please click the link
    https://foxsbm.webex.com/foxsbm/k2/j.php?MTID=ta69c39c25e69a0fc2d69b3c57ab0a056

  • Background conversations, noise, etc. can be very distracting with many people on-line.  Please, when you first join the class – place yourself on Mute.  Remain there except when you wish to contribute or during breakout sessions.
  • If you can’t join class via your computer (e.g. stuck in traffic, …) you can at minimum you can call into the class on your phone with this information:
Call the number below and enter the access code:  646 715 360Call-in toll-free number (US/Canada):1-855-244-8681Call-in toll number (US/Canada):1-650-479-3207Link to all global call-in numbers (View Online in WebEx)Show toll-free dialing restrictions
