Windows Server 2008 is only available in MS Azure. I would like to get comfortable working in both VMWare and MS Azure. If you can use VMware for the Windows 2012 instance and Azure for the Windows 2008 instance that would be ideal.
After I finish step 1 and step 2 and I get to step 3 to power up the virtual machine, I keep getting the error message “Operating System not found”
so I deleted and started all over again and I still got the same message. ( I did have some bit of problem with step 2- on using the ISO image of the Windows Server 2012 R2 x64 DVD., I somehow managed to get through that part — i’m not sure if that’s why I got the error message ??
This error typically means that the VMware is not finding the ISO image and/or the OS was not properly installed and therefore is unable to boot the Operating System.
Also had that problem. installing and uninstalling wont help. Like professor said, you need to have that ISO file on that pc that will install the OS. Download it first.
I downloaded Ubuntu and was able to install it to VMWARE but I can’t get into the Root folder. I tried looking at youtube and stuff online but none of it works. Need help.
Where can I download the ISOs?
Hi Fraser, Has this issue been resolved?
Yes thank you
After class last week, we discovered that Windows Server 2008 was not available. Has this issue been resolved?

Does this help to clarify?

Please do a little research on this specific error. Here is some info I found that may help you: https://communities.vmware.com/thread/452942
I will also go through the install process for vmware and azure in class this week.
Hope this helps!
Pat

I am having similar issue. Did prompt to install root-system-bin but then I get an error saying I need to name the directory.
Are either of you able to login to Ubuntu? Is this error after you login or is it preventing you from completing the installation?
If you are able to provide a screenshot of the error that would be helpful.
