Securing a MySQL DB Server
Last night we spent a decent amount of time discussing the database level of a database server as well as the operating system level of a database server. Why do you think we spent so much time discussing this? What are two main levels of security that affect a database server (hint: there are tables within the db itself, but these tables all boil down to files in a folder in windows) How do we ensure both levels are secured?
Week 8 Update
Hi Class, last night we moved onto Database Administration and Auditing. This included a comprehensive overview of Relational Database Architecture as well as a hands on demonstration of a MySQL installation and configuration as well as a walk-through on how MySQL operates on a Windows Server.
Next week we will move onto Application Software, including web server auditing, visual studio and C# development.
For next week: 1) The command line activity will be due on 10/24 2) Tech Challenge 6 will be due 10/31 3) Read Murach’s C#2015 Chapters 1, 2 and 3 4) Perform steps 1-8 and 11 of Tech Challenge 7 (So you have Visual Studio on your VM installed for class)
Have a great weekend!

What is the point of a Domain?
Why do we care about domains? Why is it ok for you to not be on a domain at home, but at work your company makes your work pc join their domain? What’s the point?
How does any of this relate to your future work as IT Auditors?
