Welcome to ITACS Cyber Security Track

Learn the Basics of Linux command line

Throughout the program you will use Linux and UNIX command line for may of the course labs and exercises.  For example, many of the pre-installed applications used in Kali Linux (e.g. Metasploit and nmap) are most powerful when used via the command line.  Although it is not expected for students to be experts in command line coming into the program, a fundamental knowledge and skill-set is highly recommended and easy to develop.  Get started with one of these basic courses in Lynda.com:

Unix for Mac OS X Users: This Lynda.com course is geared towards Mac users that want to learn the basics of command line via the Mac Terminal application.

Learning Linux Command Line: This Lynda.com is a basic course on the fundamentals of Linux command line and Bash shell.  If you’ve already downloaded and installed a Linux VM, check out this course to learn more.

Lynda.com is a free resource to Temple University students that is available from the TUportal home page.
