Install VM Workstation

Hypservior software is a utility that allows a user to install virtual machines on a host operating system.  As described by Wikipedia, “the hypervisor presents the guest operating systems with a virtual operating platform and manages the execution of the guest operating systems. Multiple instances of a variety of operating systems may share the virtualized hardware resources: for example, Linux, Windows, and macOS instances can all run on a single physical x86 machine.”

VM Workstation is one of the more popular Hypervisor products available to build virtual machines used throughout the Temple ITACS program and is available to download for free via Temple University’s Academic Software Center.

After you have registered for the Academic Software Center site, watch this video tutorial for more information on how to download and install VMware:

Other hypervisor products available include Virtual Box (free) and Parallels (starting at $79.99).
