Furthermore, Edward Tufte was famously known for noting his writings and impact on information design such as scatter graphs, bar charts and line graphs including so many more graphical graphs , and also Edward Tufte was a pioneer of data visualisation meaning how data (a.k.a information) is presented as\u00a0graphical\u00a0content for important use.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/68.media.tumblr.com\/d31a5940133530d00590e31a3a0dc7a9\/tumblr_inline_nv1b4vDW1E1t0juqg_1280.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for edward tufte\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Measuring Misrepresentation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The lie factor is calculated by dividing the size of the effect shown in the graphic by the size of the effect in the data.<\/p>\n<p>If the lie factor is <strong>GREATER THAN 1<\/strong> the graph <strong>OVERSTATES<\/strong> the effect.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/image.slidesharecdn.com\/talk-2011sept-principlesofanalyticaldesign-short-110930115015-phpapp01\/95\/principles-of-analytical-design-visually-meetup-sept-2011-9-728.jpg?cb=1317383689\" alt=\"Related image\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Principles of Graphical Integrity<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The representation of numbers, as physically measured on the surface of the graph itself, should be directly proportional to the numerical quantities represented.<\/li>\n<li>Clear, detailed and thorough labeling should be used to defeat graphical distortion and ambiguity.\u00a0Write out explanations of the data on the graph itself.\u00a0Label important events in the data.<\/li>\n<li>Show data variation, not design variation<\/li>\n<li>In time-series displays of money, de\ufb02ated and standardized units of monetary measurement are nearly always better than nominal units.<\/li>\n<li>The number of information carrying (variable) dimensions depicted should not exceed the number of dimensions in the data.
