Week 13 class – THURSDAY, April 14 at 9:30am at Speakman 200
Next week, we will meet on THURSDAY, April 14 at 9:30am at Speakman 200 (the usual classroom).
Select Papers for Week 13 and 14
For Week 13 and 14, I will ask each student to select one paper for us to read and discuss.
- Please select two papers and send me by Monday, April 4. I will choose one of them.
- The papers should be published at top IS or other business journals.
- The topics must be among the ones in our seminar.

Final Term Paper – due by Friday, May 6, 11:59 PM
The final term paper is due by Friday, May 6 at 11:59PM EST. Submit your term paper by email.
Be advised that there will be no “incomplete” grade. Missing this deadline will result in a failing grade.
Week 10 – Research Proposal Presentations
On March 23, each student will present his/her ideas for a final term paper (research proposal).
- Each student will have 10 minutes for presentation, followed by a 5-minute Q&A.
- For MIS students, proposal topics must be from (or closely related to) the research topics in this seminar. Non-MIS students are allowed to deviate from this boundary but still expected to propose new IS ideas or interdisciplinary research ideas with IS and own majors.
- Presentation will consist of (i) motivation, (ii) background theory, (iii) hypotheses, and (iv) possible data sources.
- Presentation will be stopped promptly at 10 minutes. Hence, be advised to keep your slides within 7-8 pages.
- Post your presentation slides on this site by Monday, March 21, 11:59 PM, so that the instructors and other students have enough time to look at and think about feedback.

Triumph of the City
We will begin reading Triumph of the City by Edward Glaeser next week. When reading this book, please try to come up with new research ideas on cities, information systems, and business.

The literature review assignment is due by Friday, March 4 at 11:59 PM EST. Submit your file by email to minspang@temple.edu.
- Topics should be from the ones listed in the course schedule or closely related to them.
- The literature review should be no more than five-page long in double-space, 11-point text, one inch-margin in all four sides.
Weekly reading briefs – a few rules
- Please keep your brief within 300 words.
- Submit your brief on time by 11:59 PM Tuesday.
- Do not attach a Word file. Copy and paste your brief into the text box, so that others can see your brief without downloading and opening a file.
MIS 9003 First Day – Wed, Jan 13 at 1:30 – 4 pm
It has come to my attention that an MIS faculty candidate will give a talk in the morning of Jan 13. Thus, we will meet at 1:30pm at Speakman Hall 200 for the first day only. We will meet at 9:30am afterwards. I will send you paper assignments by tomorrow.
