Job Experiences and Future
At a young age, I started working for my father and his business. It was a hardscaping/landscaping business called JV Landscaping LLC. I learn the aspect that hard-work pays off. Nothing will teach you more lessons in pride and dignity then manual labor. I learned that the amount of effort you put into your work is the amount of credit you are most likely to receive. My father is the best at what he does for a reason. He puts all possible efforts forward to creating the best end project. Learning these aspects from my father at a young age taught me to grasp these life concepts and apply them to everything I do.
Then I got a job at a clothing store called Eblens where I was a sale associate. I learned a lot of useful strategies that I still use to this day. It was necessary for me to perform certain tasks such as educating 50 customers a shift, helping to advertise the products sold and assuring 100% satisfaction to any customer in need of help throughout my shift. More specific tasks include managing a cash register for checkouts, learn the shoe assignments and have the ability to find any article of clothing that was asked of me.
My next job was at a grocery store called Shop Rite. I was with this company for over two years and established myself as a cashier, customer service rep. and bookkeeper. I’m still able pick up where I left off with them because of the relationship I established with the company. Some of my daily tasks were to demonstrate a strong work ethic through three hundred customers a shift, making their experience in our store a pleasure. Also manage multiple cash registers every shift consisting of two thousand dollars each, which resulted in the learning of money management.
Then I moved down to Philadelphia for obtaining a college education and acquired a job with ParkOps as a valet attendant. This job has helped me develop a skill for quick, fast, and reliable services for car care and transportation while in control of 100 cars a shift, from three different valet locations throughout Philadelphia. Also, keeping track of all the different sets of keys, where their designated “hanging areas” are, and the location of the customer’s vehicle in the parking lot. During the shift. it’s important to maintain a clean and organized work area, being sure not to lose or misplace a customer’s car keys, while being available for their full service needs.
Then I was able to obtain an internship through my school more geared towards the finance and insurance industry with Aflac. This is a great opportunity for me to learn the sales and marketing side of businesses. As for my career, it will help me understand every aspect of a business situation, not just the numbers side of it. I am extremely happy with this great opportunity.
After all the different types of work experiences I was able to obtain, as well as achieving a college degree, I became part of the team in Berwyn, PA as a financial advisor for New York Life Insurance Company. In the financial services industry, you have many different situations within the workplace for creating a financial portfolio for clients that help keep the day-in and day-out responsibilities different, never having one day the same as the other. I currently am employed as a licensed agent and have the ability to create a holistic financial plan for a client based off their current financial situation and the short/long term financial goals.
The dedication and drive that I have for success will lead me to a bright future. My goal is to return to school, after a few years working in the financial services industry, for my master’s and obtain my Certified Financial Planners (CFP) license. I feel that I have the motivation to accomplish any goal or objective that I set my mind to. Going above and beyond all expectations is what I strive for.
