TRICKS FOR LAUNCHING YOUR OWN WEBSITE
This external event was hosted in Blackstone Launch Pad/ Howard Gittis Student Center on April 26, 2018 from 4-5 pm. The speaker name was Emily Rephas. At this event, the main point was to teach students how to launch a templated website cheap and easy. To start we need a domain name. To do that we need to buy a URL. The websites that can help us to do that are NameCheap.com, Go Daddy, eHost.com, FatCow, Web.com, and many others. We need to choose to host where the site can be stored. After that, we need to choose what ty[e of the website we want such as informational, portfolio, blog, events, e-commerce, customized services. There are different DIY website builder options such as wix, WordPress, Tumblr, splashthat, Weebly, Jimbo, Shopify and many others. All of them have a month of free trial so you can figure out which one works out better. I learned that I can create my own website for less than $150. It is not hard, just requires some time to figure out how it all works.
