Information System Technician Intern

In the Summer of 2022 I had the honor of interning at OraSure Technologies as Information Systems Technician Intern. My overall jobs function was to investigate, support and resolve software and hardware requests of users as received through the help desk. Install, configure, maintain voice and data networks, laptop computers and desktop computers. Assist network administrator in support of servers, network systems, communications devices and appliances. While also provide support and basis administration of the SAP system landscapes. One project that I did while at OraSure was collecting inventory using Microsoft Asset Manager. I would manually record all computers in stock, deployed, or retired. If a computer was deemed “lost”, I would have to communicate with people inside the company to retrieve the machine. Another project that I did was I had to enter printers for the entire company via using a windows server. I would have to access the server and create printers using ip addresses and making sure they are on the network.  At OraSure I completed 275 tickets within 8 weeks at the company. It is a average of 6.75 tickets a day, while completed other various tasks throughout those days. This internship relates to my major because it taught about different areas within the MIS Major. It taught me basic server management, basic help desk skills, and basic cybersecurity skills. I relate a lot of this internship to my MIS 2101 class that I took in the Spring of 2022, where we touched on multiple different areas in MIS to get a feel for what area we want to go into.
