Launch Intern
This summer I interned with Ernst & Young, a Big 4 Accounting Firm, in their Philadelphia office from June 12th – August 10th . During this internship, I rotated through three of their service lines: Advisory, Assurance, and Tax. I worked on multiple engagements within each service line for a total of two weeks each. My roll and tasks varied within each service line. For example, during my Advisory rotation I worked on SOX Compliance and testing the different controls of a company. I was responsible for testing the controls and creating the proper work papers for each control. During my Assurance rotation, I was responsible for creating a walk-through of the controls and rolling forward documents from previous years to use for the current year. During my Tax rotation, I worked on multiple State and Federal Returns for different OPCO companies. I also assembled T-Letters and Returns that were to be sent out for approval. Two of the service lines that I rotated through were designed for Accounting majors, but I did see different MIS applications throughout all three. I became familiar with their systems (OneSource, OnePoint, SharePoint), I did a fair amount of analyzing their data, and I tested multiple controls. The internship felt similar to concepts I learned in MIS 2502 with the analysis of data and the use of excel tools as well.
