I am a front desk worker and perform tasks like answering telephones, taking complete messages and directing calls to the appropriate resource person. I aslo perform clerical tasks, make deliveries, create and post flyers, and run campus and inter-departamental errands. A front desk worker is  a liaison between the front office, the live-in staff (RD, RC, and RA’s) and other campus departments. I direct students to the appropriate department based on their needs, update office logs, assist in the escort of tours around the building, and  receiving, tallying, logging, and distributing packages and keys, as well.

Temple University Owl Team

During the summers of 2012 and 2013, I worked as a member of Temple University’s Owl Team. Owl Team Leaders are Temple University’s summer orientation leaders. Each year, approximately 32 Temple undergraduate students are selected to serve as Owl Team Leaders. The selection process is quite rigorous and competitive including three rounds: first a large group interview, then a small group interview, and ultimately an individual interview.

As an Owl Team Leader I worked with University staff, new students, and other Owl Team Leaders to create a positive and welcoming atmosphere for new students and parents during summer orientation programs. I worked closely with small groups of new students to facilitate group activities and discussions to assist students in their transition to Temple University. Through this position as an Owl Team Leader, I learned and practiced group facilitation and teamwork strategies, built interpersonal competence, and served as a positive role model and representative of Temple University. Owl Team Leaders are required to participate in spring trainings and meetings, summer training including a weekend retreat, and all summer orientation sessions in June, July, and August.

laheyLahey Family Fun Park

Over the course of four summers, summers 2008-2012, I worked for Lahey Family Fun Park. I worked in customer service, as a party host, and as a go-cart attendant. Lahey Family Fun Park offers numerous activities for all ages including miniature golf, go-carts, bumper boats, batting cages, and an indoor arcade. I hosted  indoor and outdoor birthday parties weekly for children between the ages of 3 and 12. I also trained newly hired go-cart attendants in safety and procedures for operating the cars and sold tickets and concession to customers.
