Cybersecurity IT Itern
- Job function (e.g., overall role, assigned tasks) – I was a cybersecurity IT intern, which included a lot of exposure to GSA (governance, risk, and control) , cloud structures, and many of the business functions that combined IT with the corporate side of the business. I was also fortunate and able to gain some insight and experience with the data visualization department, the cloud architecture department, and the project management department.
- Examples of projects (e.g., list the projects you worked on and what you accomplished) – 1) created a cybersecurity risk process manual for my division where I was able to document current and new processes that I helped facilitate. 2) Created an automated workflow using azure and share point, which would select candidates for IT bi-weekly presentations 3.) Created 2 presentations that were presented to leadership and co-workers that provided details on the importance of risk management and protections against malware
- What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this experience in the context of specific courses) – When working with the cloud team I was able to reference what I had learned in my classes about databases and SQL in order to help contribute. Also when designing process flows and documentation I was able to reference coding logic and thought processes to navigate and understand how to structure things. I also found the upper level FOX risk management course to be extremely helpful when I was working closely with the GRC division of PPL.
