Technology Consultant – NetSuite

During my internship, I was able to get experience at RSM working with a platform called NetSuite, which happens to be the #1 cloud ERP in the world. My main role was to work with clients on implementing the software into their business, teaching them the ins-and-outs and how to use it, as well as exporting data and important information onto NetSuite from the clients old software.

One of the first projects that were assigned to me involved editing the roles and permissions in NetSuite so the client can get the best use out of the platform. The roles are split between different jobs associated within the business, while the permissions are what each role can accomplish. For example, An AP analyst will have certain permissions to them, different from what a Revenue Manager may be able to do. Another big project I worked on involved billing and revenue report testing. For this, I went into NetSuite to test various different source transactions, putting those in different use cases to make sure the right information was being pulled, billed, etc. I worked on a couple other projects, and all were steps I took in order to be better acquainted with NetSuite, as well as being a better first choice advisor for clients who need certain things done on the platform.

One of the first things we are taught in the intro courses for the MIS program at Temple are ERP’s, and I was fascinated by the way ERP’s can help business manage various different tasks within a business. Luckily, I was able to learn how a top ERP system is used at the firm. Not only was I able to get great experience with the software, I can now take this experience and expand my job horizons at other firms who are interested in using NetSuite as their main management platform.
