Technology Intern
- I was a technology intern for the PA DEP (government agency) in Norristown, working specifically with the clean water division.
- Job function: I played an important role in supporting the administration of the DEP’s database; ensuring program effectiveness through data management. I perfomed data analysis and measurement–keeping the database maintained and users supported. I also managed group-wide collaboration with SharePoint to enable cross-team communication. In addition, I made changes and updates to CSS on API. Sometimes, I perform data entry work scanning documetns and organizing them in digital format on the agency server.
- Examples of projects: I did a project process mapping the operations for the team in order to help document current business processes. I kept the subject matter expert focused on the entire workflow and created digital charts. For another project, I gathered information on 25+ projects to create portfolios of work that has been completed and another for those still in the planning phase.
- What I learned and how it relates to my major: I learned how to update CSS which is something I also learned in my MIS courses. I was also able to use the skills I learned in SQL and apply them to the internship where I further developed my data analytics skills. Project management, digital portfolio creation, and process mapping are other things I learned.
