Join us for the TLC Philly 7th Annual Conference focused on Digital Access and Civic Engagement. Our conference gives you a chance to hear multiple speakers from Philly who are focused on issues of digital inclusion and equity in their programs. Our keynote speaker is Angela Siefer, the Executive Director of the National Digital Inclusion Alliance.

Jefferson Health Hack is three days of problem solving, networking, collaboration, and a ton of fun!A healthcare hackathon thrives on the collision of different worlds, experiences, and cultures. It brings together people from multiple disciplines who may not work together otherwise, to dream up solutions for the most pressing issues in healthcare. These meetups can drive ideas and startups worth millions. They can also jump start significant improvements in our day-to-day practices.

Over 900 students from across the nation for 24 hours of creation, innovation, & fun. From seasoned coding veterans to first-time hackers from any major or field, all are welcome to join. Discover your ability to create change by developing technology to solve real-world problems, working with industry leaders, and collaborating with your peers.
Tech Track
The standard HackPSU experience. Learn new skills with workshops in everything from beginners Python to machine learning, and collaborate with team members to build something awesome. We’ll have tons of great mentors and other staff around to help you on your way. Choose this track if you’re passionate about technology and development.
Business Track
The alternative HackPSU experience. Here, you will pitch an innovative solution for a real-world tech problem facing today’s businesses. As a result, you have the opportunity to learn about today’s emerging technologies and collaborate with team members to present something awesome. Choose this track if you’re passionate about business and consulting.

Philadelphia Career Fair – November 5, 2019 – Live Recruiting/Hiring Event

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland and the Center for Women in Computing are pleased to present the second year of Tech + Research: Welcoming Women to Computing Research. This is a three day research workshop geared towards engaging undergraduate women in computing. During this workshop, student teams will come together and collaboratively work together to use technology to solve pressing issues.
Parallel to Technica, the largest all-women and non-binary hackathon in the nation, students will participate in the Research track at Technica The weekend event will bring together computing faculty from institutions across the state of Maryland to serve as mentors on projects in their research areas. Along with providing hands-on research experience in a dynamic hackathon setting, the weekend workshop will include sessions introducing attendees to the basics of computer science research (CSR) and highlight the exciting opportunities that come with pursuing a graduate degree in computer science.
Who Can Attend?
We welcome all women undergraduates from colleges and universities to apply. Current master’s students considering a PhD program may apply and will be considered on a case by case basis. Please apply by October 15th for best consideration. Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, October 23th if space is still availible.
Registration Process and Fees
Participants will have two options to experience this workshop.
- Students who live more than 15 miles away from College Park, MD will be provided housing.
- Students who live on or near the UMD campus (less than 15 miles away from College Park, MD) will not be provided housing.
Housing does not include Sunday, 11/10/19. Students are expected to check out Sunday morning before programming.
All meals, snacks, and supplies will be provided for both groups from Friday morning breakfast through Sunday lunch. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from UMCP.

Technica is the world’s largest all-women and nonbinary hackathon, hosted annually at the University of Maryland.
Over the duration of 24 hours, women and non-binary people are immersed in tech culture and encouraged to exercise their imagination to create interesting and innovative hacks.
This year’s theme is “Go Beyond”. At Technica, we want to see women and non-binary folks thrive and go beyond society’s expectations for them. We encourage all attendees to take your tech journey beyond Technica. Don’t stop at our hackathon, attend others and keep creating. Technica is meant to catapult you further in your career, and help you to continue achieving. As you advance in your career, go beyond your duties at work, become a mentor and help to advance the next generation of women in tech. SPARK is a 24 hour (Nov. 14-15) think-tank style competition giving you the chance to solve real-world problems alongside industry representatives. Hosted by Villanova’s Sustainability Office, Drexel’s Institute for Energy and the Environment and Temple University, students will be asked to present solutions to meet industry needs.
Networking opportunities Meet and network with leading experts in various industries, collaborate with peers from various universities and build a strong network of support for your academic and professional aspirations.
Experience Participating in a high-level competition like SPARK, which applies technical and academic learning to real-world problem statements, demonstrates an enhanced experience that employers are looking for.

Next February, join us at SIG to learn more about what a day in the life looks like across our trading, finance, technology, and operations teams. Throughout the day you’ll get to learn about what our teams do, how options trading works, and will get a sense of our unique culture and work environment.

We will explore a typical day in our professional lives and share insights on what skills and experiences one can gain working in Internal Audit. Khaleque Ismail and Ramir Austin, both IT Auditors at Chubb, will share their personal experiences and we’ll conclude with an open dialogue to answer any questions from the group.
Alan Phan is an IT Audit Professional at Chubb helping to manage and minimize information technology risks at the organization. He has 15 years of IT experience and specializes in advisory of security and cyber risk management. A strong supporter of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, Alan serves on multiple boards and committees to influence and shape organizational culture. When not working, Alan enjoys staying active, a good Netflix binge, and spending quality time with his family ruled by three little princesses.
