SUMMARY:Intro to critical making
DESCRIPTION:In this 90-minute workshop\, participants learn how everyday objects can be transformed into digital artifacts using 3D scanning. Together\, we’ll explore why researchers\, artists\, and archivists use scanning technologies\, with a focus on cultural heritage preservation and storytelling. Through guided demonstrations\, you’ll be introduced to core techniques including handheld scanning\, photogrammetry\, and basic model cleanup. Working in pairs\, you’ll scan a small object and capture its story\, then join the group in creating a scan of a cropped interactive pose. Along the way\, we’ll discuss strategies for sharing digital models and the possibilities they open up for research and creative practice. \nAttendees are encouraged to bring a small personal object to scan during the workshop. All other equipment will be provided in the makerspace. By the end of the session\, you’ll leave with both hands-on experience and a new perspective on how technology can preserve\, reimagine\, and expand the life of physical objects. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister for Event\n\n\n\n\nhttps://charlesstudy.temple.edu/event/15385397 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou will need to take a selfie in front of the sign/poster for the event for proof of attendance.

SUMMARY:Intro to 3D Modeling : Imagining Biosphere
DESCRIPTION:Biospheres\, whether in a garden or on a planet\, are formed by imperceivable interconnections. How to visualize these invisibles? How to create the illusion of liveliness with 3D technology? This workshop\, open to all\, will introduce attendees to the utility of 3D modeling in visualizing natural connections and movements. During the workshop\, we will examine examples and cover the basics of the 3D platform\, Unity\, including its terrain system\, particle system\, and VFX Graph. We will then collaborate to design a living biosphere and explore the potential of these designs in ecological education and more. Whether you are a designer considering incorporating 3D models into your practices or simply want to figure out how 3D modeling works behind the scenes\, all are welcome. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister for Event\n\n\n\n\nhttps://charlesstudy.temple.edu/event/15216564 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou will need to take a selfie in front of the sign/poster for the event for proof of attendance. \n

SUMMARY:AI/ML Workshop. Vibecoding: How ANYONE Can Turn Daily Routines into Scalable Systems
DESCRIPTION:At one time or another\, we’ve all used tools that might not be the right fit for a specific situation. For example\, managing projects in Excel when we need real-time collaboration\, drafting training programs in PowerPoint that would work better as interactive modules\, or maintaining grocery lists in the Notes app on iPhone that never organize themselves. We make do with tools that don’t quite fit because building custom software seems impossible. The answer is Vibecoding! \nThe best way to get started with Vibecoding is to recognize that your daily routines are app blueprints waiting to be optimized. This presentation will detail what vibecoding is\, how to apply a simple framework to the app development process\, and how the ‘vibecoding’ space has evolved over the past eight months. \nKeith Gutierrez from the MIS department will introduce vibecoding and its practical applications. \nFollowing his presentation\, we’ll have a group discussion on getting started with vibecoding for beginners and exploring how to integrate vibecoding into our curriculum. \nThis workshop is perfect for anyone curious about vibecoding\, especially if you’ve been interested but unsure where to begin. Whether you’re new to the concept or looking to deepen your understanding\, please stop by! \nYou are encouraged to come to LW420\, but the Zoom option is also available (https://temple.zoom.us/j/97714472127). \nYou can only earn points if you attend the event in person and stay for the full duration. You will also need to sign in and provide proof of attendance.
