SUMMARY:Introduction to Scientific Legal Mapping and Policy Surveillance
DESCRIPTION:As proof of attendance\, Have; \n\n2 screenshots with your name visible (either show your name logged into your computer on split screen or log into canvas or your portfolio and show that).   \n\n1 with the date and time from the start of the session.\n1 with the date and time from the end of the session.\n\n\nTitle of the meeting or webinar visible in screenshots.\nYou will not get approved without the above\, no exceptions.\nYou need to stay the entire time and the time attended will be checked with the host.\n\nThis training provides a broad overview of the scientific methods used to create data from laws and policies. These methods\, called scientific legal mapping or policy surveillance\, create data suitable for use in rigorous evaluation studies and in practice. Policy surveillance addresses the chronic lack of readily accessible\, nonpartisan information about status and trends in legislation and policy\, it provides the opportunity to build policy capacity in the workforce\, and it can speed the diffusion of innovation. Attendees to this one-hour webinar hosted by the Center for Public Health Law Research at the Temple University Beasley School of Law will learn the differences between scientific legal mapping techniques (e.g.\, policy surveillance\, legal assessments)\, the steps of the policy surveillance process\, and uses for the data. \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:AI/ML Workshop. Vibecoding: How ANYONE Can Turn Daily Routines into Scalable Systems
DESCRIPTION:At one time or another\, we’ve all used tools that might not be the right fit for a specific situation. For example\, managing projects in Excel when we need real-time collaboration\, drafting training programs in PowerPoint that would work better as interactive modules\, or maintaining grocery lists in the Notes app on iPhone that never organize themselves. We make do with tools that don’t quite fit because building custom software seems impossible. The answer is Vibecoding! \nThe best way to get started with Vibecoding is to recognize that your daily routines are app blueprints waiting to be optimized. This presentation will detail what vibecoding is\, how to apply a simple framework to the app development process\, and how the ‘vibecoding’ space has evolved over the past eight months. \nKeith Gutierrez from the MIS department will introduce vibecoding and its practical applications. \nFollowing his presentation\, we’ll have a group discussion on getting started with vibecoding for beginners and exploring how to integrate vibecoding into our curriculum. \nThis workshop is perfect for anyone curious about vibecoding\, especially if you’ve been interested but unsure where to begin. Whether you’re new to the concept or looking to deepen your understanding\, please stop by! \nYou are encouraged to come to LW420\, but the Zoom option is also available (https://temple.zoom.us/j/97714472127). \nYou can only earn points if you attend the event in person and stay for the full duration. You will also need to sign in and provide proof of attendance.

SUMMARY:Fox School of Business Cybersecurity Awareness workshop
DESCRIPTION:This Small Business Cybersecurity Awareness Workshop is designed to provide essential knowledge and practical guidance on protecting your business’s critical systems and sensitive data. With growing cyber threats disrupting daily operations\, this workshop equips business owners and employees with the foundational skills needed to safeguard their assets effectively. Participants will gain an understanding of cybersecurity basics\, including why information security is crucial and how to implement robust data protection measures. \nThe workshop covers a simplified cybersecurity framework focused on asset inventory\, classification (high\, moderate\, low risk)\, and applying protection controls such as identity access management\, multifactor authentication\, encryption\, passwords\, and backups. Attendees will learn to classify various types of data—from public marketing materials to highly restricted financial and personal identification information—and understand the impact of potential breaches. \nInteractive breakout sessions allow participants to apply concepts directly by classifying their data assets and determining appropriate security controls and monitoring frequencies. Case discussions and exercises provide real-world context to the threats and mitigation strategies relevant to small businesses. \nDelivered by a team of ITACS professionals and graduate students\, the workshop also features Q&A and feedback sessions\, ensuring attendees have the opportunity to clarify concepts and tailor learnings to their operational environments. Resources on zero trust\, physical access control\, patch management\, and cloud security are provided. \nThis engaging and comprehensive session empowers small businesses to take measurable steps toward improved cybersecurity posture\, minimizing risk and disruption. Attendees leave with actionable knowledge and the confidence to better protect their data\, systems\, and reputation in an increasingly digital world.
